Siesta Key.
World-famous quartz sand beaches, a laid-back village atmosphere, and some of the most sought-after coastal real estate in Florida.
What makes Siesta Key special.
Siesta Key is a barrier island off the coast of Sarasota, connected to the mainland by two bridges. It's most famous for Siesta Key Beach — consistently ranked among the top beaches in America thanks to its unique sand composition: 99% pure quartz crystal, ground to a fine powder over thousands of years. The sand is brilliantly white, cool to the touch even on the hottest days, and feels like flour under your feet.
But Siesta Key is more than just a beach. The island has a genuine community feel, with a walkable village center (Siesta Key Village), a laid-back dining and nightlife scene, and a mix of residents ranging from young families to retirees to seasonal visitors.
The Beaches
Siesta Key has several distinct beach areas, each with its own character:
- Siesta Key Beach (Public Beach): The main beach — wide, iconic, and consistently ranked #1 in America. Full facilities, parking, and lifeguards.
- Mid-Beach: Quieter than the main beach, with a more residential feel. Access points off Stickney Point Road.
- Turtle Beach: On the south end of the island, this beach is better for shelling and has a more natural, less manicured feel.
- Shell Beach: A small, sheltered cove popular with kayakers and paddleboarders.
Village Life
Siesta Key Village is the island's social center — a walkable cluster of restaurants, bars, shops, and galleries along Ocean Boulevard. From casual beach bars with live music to upscale dining, the village has a relaxed, unpretentious energy. It's the kind of place where you can walk from your house or condo to dinner, then catch the sunset on the beach without getting in a car.
Real Estate
Siesta Key real estate is driven by its beaches and island lifestyle. Properties range from modest condos and older beach cottages to luxury waterfront estates. The island's limited land area and strict development guidelines mean that inventory is always tight — desirable properties move quickly.
